Srinagar, March 15 (KNO) : Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani Friday expressed his grave concern over the increasing ‘highhandedness’ of India by employing its agencies and armed forces personnel as an ‘aggressive and repressive measure’ against peaceful, unarmed civilians including pro-freedom leadership and activists. In a statement issued to KNO, Geelani expressed his deep concern over the unabated arrests and detention of 14 civilians of Ratnipora Pulwama, slapping the PSA on Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and Jamaat-e-Islami activists and terrorizing the pro-freedom people and their families through their agencies said that “these actions can’t, in anyway, deter the people from vehemently supporting the ongoing freedom movement, because the coercive measures, killings, detentions and suppressions will yield nothing, instead will lead to devastation.” He said that the repressive actions against the freedom loving people have failed on all fronts to suppress the people’s sentiments with the movement for right to self-Determination during the past 71 years especially since 1989 and in future as well. Decrying the conduct of the Indian state as ‘highly unfortunate and unacceptable’, Geelani and said that “the Indian authorities are hell bent to curb and strangulate the genuine aspirations and political voice for right to self-determination. Purely a political and peaceful movement as recognized in UN charter is being negated and denied with muscular policy and by resorting to military might.” Hailing the commitment, persistence and unshakable resolve of people in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he said that the people are facing a big military power suffering from arrogance and utilizing its haughty approach, however their urge to resolve Kashmir has touched the pinnacle and freedom movement emerged as invincible. Meanwhile, Geelani strongly condemned the terror attack on the twin mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, wherein 40 people got killed. He termed it ‘a heinous and brutal act’ not only against the Muslims, but whole humanity and anybody with a human heart will find his words insufficient in condemning this barbaric act. “We as a nation sympathize with the family of those who were killed or injured and share their grief from the inner core of our heart,” he said. Meanwhile, a protest march organized by Hurriyat Conference (G) at Hyderpora Srinagar and Budgam, against the ‘fascist ploy’ like booking of Muhammad Yasin Malik and others pro-freedom leaders under PSA, sending the summon to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Naseem Geelani by NIA, the spree of mass arrests and ban on politico-religious organization Jamaat-I-Islami. Statement said that Hurriyat organized a peaceful protest at Hyderpora Srinagar against Indian state-terrorism and besides large number of people and leadership including Molvi Bashir Irfani, Ameer Hamza Shah, Bilal Sidqui, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Maqbool Magami, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Imran Ahmad Bhat, Haji Qadous, Zahoor-ul-Haq Geelani, Mohammad Rafiq Shah and other participated, while as Aga Syed Akeel Mouswi organized a protest rally in Budgam, which was scheduled to be headed by Aga Syed Hassan Mouswi, but he was put under house arrest by the police. Terming the random incarceration of resistance leaders of Jammu and Kashmir as ‘a mark of tyranny’ on the face of India claiming the largest democracy of the world leaders expressed its grave concern on the sheer lawlessness prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir. Leaders sent a loud and clear message to the Indian authorities that the people of Kashmir shall resist, to its full capacity, to safeguard the movement of right-to self determination.(KNO)
